Putter Smith

Patrick ‘Putter’ Smith, now in his 80s, has a resume as a jazz bassist going back as far as the '50s, and has amassed a huge list of recording and performance credits alongside Thelonious Monk, Art Blakey, Duke Ellington, Diane Schuur, Ray Charles, Burt Bacharach, Sonny and Cher, the Beach Boys, the Righteous Brothers, and many more. In his later career, he also became a respected teacher of upright bass at the Musicians’ Institute in Los Angeles. Smith is also known outside the music world for his rare acting role in the 1971 James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever, in which he played an affable hitman, Mr. Kidd.

Theo Saunders

Pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger Theo Saunders has been on the international Jazz scene for more than 55 years and performed and recorded with a dizzying array of Jazz artists from Slam Stewart to Carla Bley. His career also includes extensive work in the musical spheres of Latin Jazz, R&B, Funk, Musical Theater, Dance and Opera.

Kendall Kay

Kendall is a native of Durban, South Africa. After working with most of the major artists there, Kendall moved to the US in 1983, and attended the prestigious music program at North Texas University. After graduating, he arrived in Los Angeles in 1987 and has been playing and recording with a wide range of artists ever since. His resume includes work with Diane Schuur, Alan Broadbent, Phil Upchurch, Kiki Ebsen, Bobby Shew, Kyle Eastwood, Mary Wilson and more.

Chuck Manning

The saxophonist’s approach has an emotional impact that is personal yet modern and displays Manning’s cocktail of musical influences including John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Joe Henderson, Bobby Bradford, Sonny Rollins, North Indian Classical flautist Pannalal Ghosh. A long-time veteran of the Los Angeles jazz scene, Chuck has made thousands of appearances over the years, in the LA area and throughout the world. Chuck also has had a long associations with jazz greats Bobby Bradford, Henry Franklin, Theo Saunders, Putter and VR Smith and Isla Eckinger; all of which are well documented on many CD releases over the years.
