Garretson & Gorodetsky
Garretson & Gorodetsky combine post eclectic songwriting, rhythmic complexity and fascinating triple harmonies to weave jazz-meets-folk melodies into angular wonderlands of social thought.
Fronted by singer Weba Garretson and guitarist Ralph Gorodetsky, for the past year they’ve been writing and performing with woodwind player Vince Meghrouni, bassist Laura Grissom and drummer Brian Christopherson to create songs that effortlessly move from contemporary blues to funk/soul to chamber pop.
Weba Garretson is a veteran of the Los Angeles performance art scene: She was the vocalist for seminal performance group SHRIMPS, and went on to create The Eastside Sinfonietta a band specializing in contemporary arrangements of songs by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. Ralph Gorodetsky is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and was a founding member of Universal Congress Of (SST Records) and the Mecolodiacs. Vince Meghrouni is a first call sideman for the punk, jazz and new music scene playing with the Mike Watt, the Mecolodiacs, and the Wrinkling Brothers in addition to leading his own funk band The Atomic Sherpas. Brian Christopherson is a founding member of Saccharine Trust (SST Records) and plays with Laura Grissom in the instrumental band Tune to Me.
